Skincare & Makeup Routine for Oily/Acne Prone Skin

hey guys. here's a skincare/makeup routine combo for acne prone skin. hope you find it useful, cheers! [;

skincare --

* it is very important to wash your face twice daily. however, this must be done properly in order to avoid irritating the skin any more than it already is.
•wash your hands thoroughly with antibacterial soap before touching your face.
•run the warm water until it is comfortable to you. rinse and massage your face for about 10 seconds.
•all natural, fragrance free soaps are best for sensitive/acne prone skin. i have found one that i really love from "the basin." it's tea tree oil enriched soap. i'll link it here:
http://www.basinwhite.com/tea-tree-soap/ & here's a link to my ChickAdvisor review of it:

•rub the soap between your hands until it is lathered, and then massage it gently over your skin for about another 10 seconds.
•rinse your hands under the warm water, and then rinse your face. be sure to get every last bit of soap off and massage the skin well.
* just a side note, your skin may feel tight or tingly, as if there is a film over it -- it's okay!
•run the cold water and rinse your hands, then apply cold water to your face. this causes blood to rush towards the skin, which is good for it. this is also a helpful trick to flush yourself (by the way, try to match your blush to the shade of your skin when you blush for the perfect match).
•gently pat your face dry with a soft towel.. pat, don't rub!
* alcohol is very bad for skin, even oily skin and there are only a few people whose skin can handle something so abrasive. try tea tree oil instead!
•tea tree is a natural antiseptic, great for treating acne. you can find this stuff almost anywhere, but you're looking for 100% pure tea tree oil. here's a link to some:

* this may dry out some people's skin -- generally, it will only dry out blemishes/scabs and not healthy skin. if you feel the need for a moisturizer though, you must wait until the tea tree oil is completely dry.
•here is where you would use a moisturizer to suit your needs (super hydration, etc). things that are pure and/or fragrance free will be the least irritating. a good one to try is cetaphil.

makeup --

* you want to be as gentle as possible with your skin. the best things for sensitive or acne prone skin are usually mineral makeup. bareminerals is great.

•rather than me go into detail about applying this, here's a video from bareminerals themselves:

* if you find that your skin is too oily for this or your looking for something liquid, etc., i recommend neutrogena's skin clearing makeup. i will warn though that this was too abrasive for my skin -- unless you have real acne or oil control problems, i don't recommend it.

•apply this as you would your regular foundation.. the method is up to you. i like my fingers though, because i feel they give the best coverage.
•top this with a dusting of your favorite powder, or powder foundation if you feel you need more coverage.

* concealer, etc. is up to you. i only felt the need to address what goes directly on your skin.
however, if you're looking for a concealer to cover acne and other scarring, you need to do two things: color correct under foundation, conceal over foundation.
